For Ashes, I independently designed a promotional poster for a short film about a dancer working through doubt and finding clarity through movement. I was provided with the film photography, credits, and direction to create a dreamy, mystical, feminine feel using warm tones.I developed the final concept in Photoshop by selecting the hero image, creating a warm cinematic color grade, adding atmospheric glow and film texture, and building the typography and layout around the image. My goal was to create a poster that felt emotional and cinematic while keeping the dancer and her environment at the center.

The visual direction called for a dreamy, mystical, and feminine atmosphere with warm tones. I focused on creating a cinematic look that felt emotional and atmospheric while keeping the dancer at the center of the story.

I selected the field photograph as the hero image because the scale of the tree and surrounding landscape created a natural sense of isolation and gave the composition room for the title.

I developed a warmer cinematic grade, softened the contrast, and introduced subtle bloom, haze, and film texture to create the dreamy quality requested in the brief.

I combined two type styles to create a title treatment that felt both dreamlike and refined. The custom-styled “A” adds a more organic, expressive quality, while the serif lettering keeps the rest of the title structured and cinematic. This contrast helped the title feel distinctive while still fitting the film's soft, atmospheric direction.
